Our digital services rely on our global experience in pioneering transportation technologies. We have a unique position in the transport industry as a leading signalling provider for mainline and urban rail systems. 86 metro lines in 40 countries transport passengers using Thales technologies. Added to this, 19,000km of mainline track in 42 countries also transport passengers using our solutions.
Our added value
The implementation of digital services starts by understanding your problems. With this information, our team of experts undergo a ‘design thinking’ process to identify the optimum solution. The end-product can range from a typical application, a dashboard or an algorithm, which is then supported by a range of services. Our goal is to continuously improve and evolve solutions to best achieve your ambitions.
Our digital services use a co-development approach to create applications. By combining the customer experience with Thales’s extensive subject matter expertise, we create a unique innovation environment that draws on shared insight.
Secure by design
Cyber security underpins our products and services in all of our markets across the globe. Our digital services leverage the experience of over 1500 highly qualified cyber security experts worldwide. We provide national security in 50 countries and critical information systems for over 100 clients. Furthermore, 80% of the world’s banking transactions are secured by Thales.
Open Source and Open Standards
Open source technology powers approximately 90% of the internet and is being rapidly adopted across major enterprises. Our digital services use the latest open-source technologies so that you can easily integrate our solutions.
Powered by Guavus
Our digital services leverage extensive experience from Guavus. Guavus specialise in big data analytics, which involves processing vast quantities of data in order to provide you with a greater level of actionable insights.
An agile approach
Our digital services utilise an agile approach to development. Agile is a framework of software development techniques based upon the constant feedback of users, maximising the end-value of the application. The iterative approach to the development process allows software developers to consider feedback in every incremental delivery of the application. Agile only works when the applications can be easily deployed to users. This is achieved through continuous improvement. Continuous improvement offers the ability to quickly deliver applications, new features, configuration changes and bug fixes.
Shift2Rail aims to help the rail sector lower life cycle costs by 50%, double railway capacity and increase service reliability by half, in order to help overcome challenges that are facing the industry.
The multi-company programme of work, which was funded under Horizon 2020, aims to drive the development of innovative solutions, that will help to shape the future railway system across Europe and create standards approaches to the sector’s biggest challenges.
Since 2019, Thales has committed to several research and technology projects under the scheme, which include making improvements to integrated mobility management, energy, noise and vibration.
The consortium of partners involved in the programme covers the whole of the rail sector, from infrastructure managers to train operators. The initiative is managed by the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking, a public-private partnership based in Brussels.
